Louis you can turn it off in the settings... play embedded sounds 'off'. You can also do that with the embedded graphics like my Johnny Canuck...

No need for any sound wars if you go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and uncheck "Play sounds in web pages."

The suppressed sound link shows up, however, just in case you really, really want to hear it.
