personal deja vu.
Am reading about a virtual office and then someone going to Miami who will check out an address - oh Lordy, does this smack of two situations I lost a ton of money in while working in Saudi Arabia. I was unable to get in touch with the office which sold pre IPO shares over a couple of years. I did as much DD as possible considering my location, rec'd lots of slick newsletters, complete with pictures of a "Lord" that was involved in the project, and much more. When I was unable to get in touch with them at a certain point, a friend was going to London and checked them out for me - the office had closed and no one had been seen by other companies in the bldg for weeks. About a year later a group lawsuit ensued (1999) and we just settled and shareholders will receive a fraction of the money invested sometime this year.
Deja vu number two - again while working in Saudi, I bought shares of a couple of companies through a Bahamas broker - Webster Green. As usual for a brokerage, they kept all share certs (for easy trading). What they really did was keep the money. I wanted to trade and was unable to get in touch with them. On my next vacation I routed myself through the Bahamas to talk with them personally. They had disappeared. I, along with many others, filed a complaint with the Port Authority, which unlike the States, is in charge of such things there. No way to sue them since no one could find them.
I got into NWOG on the merger news and, like many others, am so far down it's pointless to get out now. I can only hope this doesn't turn out to be a third deja vu.
