Reza's task to reclaim Iran to its freedom path is very, very difficult, even then, he would get killed the first 7 days in power. It is not only the current regime in Iran, but also the Mojahedin, the original group that toppled the regime, Khomeini used them to topple the Shah and in the end he killed them all. Khomeini was sent to exile by the Shah, he lived in France and pampered by the West. Reza probably loves his motherland, like his own father, I am sure he knows his own life is at stake here. Mojahedin, was much more brutal than the Khomeini regime was or is, even Armenians were in these groups. Mojahedin is waiting on the sidelines to see the outcome. The US is stuck, not knowing if they topple this regime what would become of Iran if Mojahedin takes power back?
The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK/PMOI), founded in 1965, was a significant, albeit not sole, actor in the 1979 revolution, actively fighting to overthrow the Shah through armed struggle and street protests. While they helped weaken the monarchy, Ayatollah Khomeini's network ultimately seized control of the revolution, later violent suppressing the MEK.
