Like I said a negotiated end to the conflict obviously needs an election to be part of it.
Your points that the regime is well entrenched are valid but Reza said that is the "narrative (pablum ;) of the regime the west needs to not accept or be stuck on".
Can both things be true at the same time - that the regime is strong and weak?. You betcha - must be tested/follow through according to Reza.
He actually said the West's reporting and investigations must be improved as they fall far short right now.
