Based on how much gain the stock has made over the past year, I doubt we need this tax advantage, since everyone is deep in red, so selling for a gain would be a dream, and paying taxes seems like the least of our problem at this moment

I believe this applies only to stock bought directly from the company, not stock bought on the open market.
