Recent developments (2025–early 2026): Activity has been more limited compared to peers. OXY faced (and largely lost) regulatory challenges against ExxonMobil’s larger-scale plans in the region. As of late 2025, OXY holds acreage but is not yet at the pilot or production stage like Exxon, Chevron, or Standard Lithium/Equinor (who announced offtake deals and funding progress in early 2026). Arkansas lithium efforts overall remain in the exploration/early development phase, with companies targeting final investment decisions around early 2026.
JordProxa has successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of two modularised Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate (LHM) industrial demonstration plants, marking an important milestone in the delivery of this innovative project.
Our scope included the LHM crystallisation package, centrifugation, drying systems, and fully integrated PLC and MCC controls, delivered as modular plants for rapid deployment. The units have been integrated with NORAM Electrolysis Systems Inc.’s lithium electrolysis systems for an optimal brine to LHM process, to produce a high-purity lithium product for a confidential, first-of-a-kind advanced energy application in North America.
A key highlight of this project was the development of a fit-for-purpose, cost-effective design tailored specifically for demo-scale deployment.
Congratulations to Liam Brown, Christopher Thompson, Bhekumuzi Mkhabela, Meglin Maistry, Micheal Swanepoel and James Stevens for their outstanding work and successful delivery of this project.
