No one wants dilution and no one wants to wait 2-3 years. The problem is, and has always been, that absent sales to fund expansion, ALL funding options are dilutive.
The debate over whether Kim should find Daddy Warbucks to chip in vs continuing to issue more shares is pointless without knowing what Daddy Warbucks wants for his risk.
Preproduction… he’s going to want a lot. Way more than Kim is willing to give. Including IP control and customer flexibility in some cases.
Invite a partner too early ? you give away upside
too late ? you’re desperate and give away even more
If we are truly on the eve of production and prove scalability and performance, then I’m all for talking to a partner after takeoff. that would really hit the accelerator. That deal would be negotiated from a position of strength rather than desperation.
Exciting few months ahead either way.
