We still don’t know the exact size of the European luxury order, but we do know they had 1/3rd ready back in July. Then came the diapause cycle, so production paused (or not) while eggs were winterized.
I’d been hoping (and still hope) the remaining two-thirds ships before year-end, ideally with a name drop.
Then 17 NOV rolls around and they announce they’re pulling silk from inventory to spin custom yarns for a top tier sports brand pilot. Great news… but which inventory?
Two possibilities:
1 They’ve already been quietly reeling more silk during/post-diapause and are using fresh stock for the sports pilot while prioritizing the European order. That would be ideal.
2 They’re dipping into the original one-third that’s been sitting there since summer (the luxury customer wanted diapaused silk and agreed to wait). Makes sense to repurpose it for a quick pilot rather than let it collect dust.
Either way, the fact they have enough inventory on hand to spin custom yarns for a major brand is the strongest proof yet that real, commercial-grade silk exists in meaningful quantity.
Cycle 6 should be cocooning right now. If it hits the 250–300 kg range with BAM-1 Alpha’s boost, we’re looking at a very real shot at clearing the European order and delivery before 31 DEC.
Fingers crossed the next PR tells us which pile they pulled from… and maybe drops a name while they’re at it.
