The whole “no explanation” line is another one of your recycled misdirections. Every update spelled it out: upgrades in hybrid strength, crossbreeding, yield consistency, and now Alpha-level parental lines. That’s the explanation
That's no excuse for not having enough spidersilk to sell. Every iteration you mention produces Dragon Silk. You don't start over from scratch just because you find a better hybrid to produce it. Culling is no excuse either. You only need to cull the parent lines so that you have the best of the best there. The majority of the worms/moths that don't make the cut should get crossbred to produce either BAM1 or BAM1A hybrids for silk. If some don't make acceptable cocoons you just throw out the cocoons you don't like. After 5 cycles you should have produced several tons of silk and had plenty of parent line worms so that you wouldn't need to just be expanding the parent lines in the 6th cycle like they are claiming to do in the latest PR. So why are they just talking about expanding the parent lines on the 6th cycle when they should have millions of them already?
Do the culling math. Keeping back just 10 pairs of parent line moths out of 150-250 possible pairs per average egg laying each cycle. Start with any number of original parent line pairs you want and then multiply by 10 five times. Then figure out how many cocoons could be produced from the culled offspring if they were crossed to make BAM1 or BAM1A hybids. The parent lines alone would be enough to make 25 tons of silk per year at that point.
Also, where is there any prototype product made from this silk? A couple of the ugliest gauze swatches anyone has ever seen? What good does it do to produce tons of the stuff if you haven't figured out how to make something with it and tested it out first? Inquiring minds want to know. Where is this so called material thet Dorton supposedly came up with? What happened to it?
