Not much to report...
Going through stacks of boxes from the last 30 years of my life and deciding what stays and what goes. I had a lot of stuff.
Got myself a little home gym and have been trying to start a workout regimen. I never really worked out before because my job was so physical that I didn't need to. It's a slow process but I'm doing it on my own terms. I also bought a bicycle and trying to take a lot of walks. It's super hilly around here so I'm going at that slowly too. My BIL turned me on to a couple little streams and lakes that are kind of hidden away so I've spent a couple days puttering around, doing some exploring and shore fishing. Though we aren't quite in the mountains, just the foothills are a whole new challenge for me.
Helping a lot around the house with the gardening and landscaping but not all of it because I want mom to remain active too. Cooking and stuff has been fun. It's the first time in my life where I can question my mother's methods and get away with it.
Just trying to chill out for a bit. I probably won't go back to work until spring, much to my sister's chagrin but I need time to recharge my batteries and to see where the hell this country is headed. I've always been an optimist but now that's slowly fading. There's even a lot of MAGA around here who are throwing in the towel.
I found a Democrat work group in the nearby city so in a few more weeks I'll probably go and introduce myself as I keep getting acclimated to my new surroundings. I haven't changed my residency yet so I'll probably start that process soon. We put a couple of the monthly bills in my name so as soon as I get them I can prove where I live.
Watching what's happening where I used to live is making my blood boil. I'm glad I'm out here now for the only reason that I might have been in the middle of some of that mess. The Broadview facility where they are roughing all the protesters up is just down the street from the zoo. Nothing in my old neighborhood so far but I don't think it's that far off with the highly diverse population there.
Anybody who really listens to the White House occupant lately can obviously see that he's suffering a complete break from reality and doesn't have a clue about what is going on around him. It gets worse by the day and I honestly don't think he's going to make it to the end of his term. The vile contempt that the GOP has been showing for the citizens of this country isn't going to help them too much either. We are teetering at the brink and something is going to give.
