Israel is systematically eradicating a people.

It stands head and shoulders above the bad actors in it's class.

Your " stand with the Israeli's who are protesting in the streets against Netanyahu and the war." is somewhat meaningless, when coupled with your support of the apartheid state.

brooklyn13, It started with Australian Aborigine whataboutism. You brought indigenous American Indian in. Uyghurs you mentioned, i think. Now Kurds. Every country has problems in the treatment of their indigenous people. Every country could do better. Australia is no different.

We here have been there with you before.

Also you know i have posted many on the failure of successive Australian governments to reach set goals toward improving conditions in Australia.

We have been through that with you here before too

But after the fall of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad .. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-19/inside-syria/104734690 .. on December 8, Israel sent troops into the buffer zone for the first time in half a century.

The Israeli government says troops will remain there until "another arrangement is found that ensures Israel's security", as the country waits to see what's in store for its neighbour following Assad's fall.

Whether Syria's future rulers embrace democracy or not, the Middle East is on the brink of a new era.

Israel's latest moves in the Golan Heights have heightened regional tensions and drawn international criticism, amid fears they create a potential flashpoint with Syria's future leaders.

You also know the Zionists made their choice. Two independent states as promised, or what they have now.

You know all that yet you continue not to deal with the source of hostility toward Israel.

You still distract from the fact it is the creeping colonialism of Israel's expansionism which is Israel's problem.

If your concern around animosity toward Israel was sincere, and it's survival, you could have joined us in questioning their taking of even more land.

If you want to get technical, it was the PLO... After King Hussein (the elder) tossed them out of Lebanon in September (Black September) 1970.

Your whataboutism is duly noted, but to say Israel's ethnic cleansing had nothing to do with it is a stretch.

Of course the introduction of a large Palestinian cohort in Southern Lebanon fucked up Israel's plan to take that for themselves, leaving an allied Christian state to the north of the Litani River.
