Even if you could sprout wings and fly straight to the mill from the the nearest motel in Bishop, it's still 6 miles each way. And yet you claim you often walk to the mill from your motel? Are you sure you are not talking about some other place - the mining and railroad museum for instance?

you might try calling the city of Bishop and ask them if they’ve ever heard of their famous Namesake the Bishop Mill.

The town of Bishop was named after Bishop Creek, which was, in turn, named after Samuel Bishop.....a rancher. Not a miner, and nothing to do with a mill.

Also, the current Bishop Mill was built on undeveloped BLM land in the early 1980's....illegally, because they didn't disclose they were disturbing more than 5 acres. Great start, right?
