Your analogy does not fit the trump and Fox news narrative. Instead of focusing on the shooter, they are back to how could anyone have a problem with Charlie Kirk. According to Fox news Kirk was a conservative voice who only wanted to spread his message. Even now after all Fox news has seen they are stating that the Republicans are the voice of reason, and that Trump has only worked to bring the country together.
Until Trump and the Republicans step back and actually work to compromise on anything, they will continue to foster this tension between the two parties.
