I've never had chicken fried steak, but I don't think I'd like it.
Yes, it's definitely an acquired taste. I grew up making breaded pork tenderloins with mom. LOL smashing them into flat, large patties with a tenderizing hammer, breading and frying them up, so the steaks are about the same. Just different gravy.
