#540430 RE: fuagf #540416

I think in the end Trump's desire/need to be liked and his increasing realization he is being seen as being manipulated by Putin (that would bother Trump), and with Europe's steadfast support for Ukraine, that Trump will not be able to sell Ukraine short as much as he initially felt, in his arrogance, he would be able to.

I hope so. But he is by now a madman. He is not rational. Once, he did have a "desire/need to be liked". But that's changed: now he demands to be worshipped, and to have everyone he meets agree that he's the best and the smartest and MUST have the Nobel Peace Price.

Does Trump appreciate the depth of Putin’s commitment to Russian mythology and history?

Of course not. He doesn't KNOW anything about Russian history. At most, he may vaguely recall that the last Tsar and his family were killed, and there was a revolution that ended with a long-lasting communist regime. Maybe. But I would not put money on that.
