As I previously indicated, this new facility will be devoted to maintaining and growing the parental lines for egg production.  The older facility will be devoted to growing silk.
The new facility will be handling at least 8 different varieties of silkworms and producing two different production strains: Bam1 and Quad1 (no existing name for the new dual hybrid variety).
Hopefully the existing facility has enough Bam1 eggs for production while the new facility is building up the numbers of  the replacement Bam1 parental line.

This facility is designed to provide expanded capacity and OPERATIONAL SECURITY as Kraig Labs scales up its recombinant spider silk manufacturing.

It's fits in neatly w/ terms and phrases such as 'production facilities are strategically positioned', 'geostrategic imperative', 'domestic or strategically located facilities', 'resilient and affordable supply of CRITICAL MATERIALS becomes an economic imperative', 'Strategic partnerships', 'significant geopolitical importance', 'CRITICAL SUPPLIER for national security needs'. This is the 3rd PR addressing the 'agreement with a government agency in Southeast Asia'. No specifics but always specifically mentions 'security' in connection w/ the new production facility 'secured' as a result of ... 'agreement with a government agency in Southeast Asia'. 'We' have made some friends in high places who are looking out for us. That means one thing ... contracts ... NEWBIES, I do hope you are paying attention.
