If only. Were that the case, our economy wouldn't be waiting nervously for ruinous tariffs. Our (former) allies all around the world wouldn't be feeling deserted. Kamala would never have announced that "It's time to go after people".
1. The border would still be open.
What does that even mean? We have more than a border with Mexico. Those borders have rarely been a huge problem. I have said many times before that we need comprehensive immigration law. You, apparently, just want to demonize migrants.
2. The taxes would have been raised.
Yes. That has happened. Do you seriously not follow the news? During Trumpty's first presidency, he gave the superrich a big tax cut through a 2017 bill called the TCJA. He also gave the middle class a tax cut through the same bill. Now that he's back in office, that cut for the superrich has become permanent, thanks to the BBB. The middle class cut was originally intended to expire this year. But there was enough outrage that much of it was retained. However:
While most income groups have benefitted from the reduced tax rates, the bottom 50% of taxpayers—who contribute approximately 3% of total income taxes—have seen a smaller dollar-for-dollar reduction in their tax burden from TCJA.
So tell me: are you making over $400,000 a year? If not, your taxes wouldn't have been raised by Harris. AND you wouldn't have been forced to feel the effects of his stupid tariffs. You would also not have a Secretary of Commerce who explains that his mother-in-law wouldn't be upset if her Social Security payments didn't arrive, and a Secretary of the Treasury who scolds the public, telling them that "cheap goods" are not part of the American Dream.
3. Companies would be penalized if they did not have DEI officers and programs.
That chiefly affected large companies. What objections do you have to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion? Do you look forward to the abolishment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964? That's the direction Trump is moving in. How do you feel about Project 2025? Trump says he "doesn't know" what it's about, but Peter Theil's protégé J.D. Vance is a strong promoter of it. Russ Vought, appointed by Trump as director of the Office of Management and Budget, wrote the Project 2025 manifesto. So I hope you're looking forward to losing the vote and not being allowed to handle your own money.
The Project 2025 people think women exist for bearing children and taking care of the home. And of course supporting their Man.
4. Schools would be allowed to keep parents in the dark about their children's confusion on gender identity.
Really? Public schools and their policies are run by local governments, not the White House. Anyone can run for the school board.
5. Iran would still have intact nuclear facilities.
If Trumpty hadn't ripped up the JPCOA, we'd still be inspecting Iran's sites to make sure they weren't running weapons programs. You do realize, do you not, that those "intact nuclear facilities" did not house any nuclear weapons, right?
And if we had Kamala as president, we wouldn't be halfway down the road to a dictatorship.
conix, You missed gun control, abortion, and increased tax on the most wealthy (you dishonestly distort that one with your "The taxes would have been raised), and you continue to misrepresent the school gender conversation. If only you were more honest.
