You guys might be interested in wythe's new approach for drug trials. They are basically turning the normal Phase I, Phase II and Phase III trials into what they call Safety, Learn and Confirm.
The big difference is the Learn (Phase II) period and they are basically using that timeperiod to "tweak" in the dosing or timeperiods of the drug. Almost like a cook or painter who would put the finishing touchs on something.
