I know we have had our issues, but after my lung cancer back in 2004-05 my feet finally stopped swelling up on me. The numbness never went away; they finally treated me with Gabapentin. I took it for almost two years, it did not help the numbness, and in my opinion gave me new problem's. I did enjoy my vitamin B-12 shots in the butt; they restored my desire to get up and keep getting things done.
Ice packs on the ankles and feet helps to take my mind off of the tingling that takes a toll upon you. The wife even bought me some specially designed feet ice packs that I keep in the freezer and use when needed.
I also made sure my socks did not have too much elastic in them, that can cut off the circulation easily and leave a ring mark on your legs.
Check with your doctor to see if you have low levels of potassium, which was also a problem with me. I eat my pineapples each day, along with my banana. Nothing will ever quite cure that numbness, but learning to live with it is the goal.
I also always take my hot shower each evening to help restore the circulation in me, I get quite cold during the day. No matter what I do, feeling uncomfortable is just part of life each day. Even now I try to regulate my activities, so I do not have to use my oxygen too much. But when I do too much, a nice snort of oxygen really helps to bring back my numbers quickly.
Growing old is never easy, especially after a few operations, and losing a few parts along the way. Good luck to you.
