Other than the VW Amarok, nothing comes to mind. I have no idea if it's even sold in the US. As far as I know, it's produced in South Africa. I read that VW want to produce an electric pickup in the States. But that's probably another stupid idea, like everything else we Germans have been doing lately.

Are SUVs and crossovers considered pickups for tariffs? If not the line you bolded doesn't make sense.

I think the article highlights the fact that pick up trucks are a US consumer favorite. Pick up trucks are a niche in Europe. The sentence is not well structured.
