They buy a lot, driving the price up to mid to high 40s. They they sell most of it to drive the price back down. But they profit on some of those shares, before starting to buy again. In this way, they slowly accumulate without driving the price up. They also only have to stop buying for like one day for the swing and day traders to dump their shares, too, which helps beat the price back down also. Rinse-repeat for weeks/months until news hits that's so big even the whales can't control the price.
