Kim isn’t the one who saw the shiny new object…

“This plan, which is the brainchild of our chief sericulture expert, Dr. Kumar, will provide the throughput necessary to support large-scale commercial production and a buffer against potential disruption.”

Definitely sucks hearing about a pause with customers waiting. Evidently Uncle Nirmal says now is the time.

“This trip was scheduled in coordination with Dr. Nirmal Kumar, the Company’s lead sericulture expert. Dr. Kumar’s expertise and guidance have been instrumental in developing and executing the Company’s production expansion initiatives and optimizing the deployment of its proprietary spider silk technologies in the field.“

So evidently the trip was to decide whether to implement Kumar’s “brainchild” plan.

Yeah. It blows. Will ultimately speed production though

the way i see it is we were ramping up silk production until kim saw a new shiny object and now we have to slow down or stop completely while we TRY out the newest shiny thing...

It obvious, to me at least, that Kim doesn't give a shit when commercialization starts. The shiny object caught his eye and he's going to examine it as long as he wants, until the next shiny object comes along. Making his shareholders wait is the least of his concerns.
If there really are three companies that are leaders in their respective industries clamoring for DS that is one hell of a lot of silk to deliver. I think the last thing he wants is to have production lines shut down because he can't deliver promised silk. He would much rather have pissed off shareholders than pissed off customers. Don't you think he's proven that shareholders, pissed off or not, are just going to keep waiting?

“Diapausing” breeds shiny new memes too. But I agree, they got some splaining to do.
