The folks that had enough contacts and billions thrown their way, failed to make spider silk. Some level of excitement they generated and on prime business hours. They changed their focus because some company was out there, with which they could not compete. Granted the media hasn't been talking yet, but within a year they certainly will be. Take the timing of saying the media hasn't said much, while it is easy. The science community knows far more than the financial media, and that is where the buzz has been. Guess what follows.
