Yes the US overthrew the Iranian gov for the UK because Iran was going to nationalize the UK's oilfields there and use that wealth for their own country....
We imposed the The Shah of Iran, who did lead Iran to a more western model of life.......However he was also a vicious dictator........
The hostage crisis at the US embassy was to oust the Shah and aimed at the embassy because that's where the coup against them came from....
Our meddling has come back to haunt us as Iran went to the Islamic extreme since and to date....
That however doesn't change where we are today and the current Iran gov with a nuke is not something the world wants.....Expect just minor outrage that the US took action from the middle east and the world.
The pretty picture you posted is only part of the story but a lot of Iranians remember that taste of western freedoms, now maybe it will come without western imposition..... Who knows
