Right, so you're saying that Beirut and Lebanon started going downhill right after Israel was created? Started that ethnic cleansing and ruined the area right away and was no longer a desirable place to visit and live right after 1949 or so? Is it accurate to describe "the introduction of a large Palestinian cohort in Southern Lebanon" as settler colonialism?

The killing of the 1200 people in the camps was horrific but :
"one of the most brutal and least remembered acts of violence in modern history: the massacre of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps." Really? To call it one of the most brutal acts of violence in modern history is to reveal a life lead with one's head in the sand.

I just can't figure what your point is, I get the "Israel bad" part of it. But, it doesn't mean Israel should be eliminated as a country any more than America should have been for killing and displacing legions more people in Vietnam and Iraq, not to mention domestically, taking part of Mexico, taking Guam and Puerto Rico, running Honduras for United Fruit (Smedley Butler) et al. If you're an "open borders" guy, I get it, I am, but otherwise it's more of that good ole hypocrisy.

You seem fine taking owed retribution back to the mid-20th century concerning Israel, while also ignoring the violence perpetrated on the people of the islands you love to visit. Maybe if the Middle East were closer and easier for you to vacation at, you'd be as forgiving as you are of the European colonizers of centuries past. As bad as you think Israel is behaving now, it's a walk in the park compared to what was also done to Central America.

But please, in light of your lack of concern about what's been done to the indigenous people in the Caribbean and here at home, maybe you can answer a question for me: what's the statute of limitations for the crimes of colonization? Everyone forgiven but Israel is what it seems your take is.
