I had to look back at garbage sports, brought me to the original 1973 Superstars which I do remember. There was supposed to be a golfer in the competition, but Arnold Palmer was already too old, and Jack Nicklaus declined to participate as he did not believe he would do well. Gary Player was ready to go but had to decline, needing surgery. Bob Seagren the pole vaulter, was chosen to replace the representative golfer. Seagren went on to win.
