I always find that old history fascinating. It's always good to know where we came from and where we also could be headed. Like I stated to janice, we are a relatively young nation by standards compared to many other societies.

If it wasn't for the European settlers, this country could very well be blossoming with Aztec, Mayan or Inca citizens these days, not to mention all the tribes that made up the first native American nations. They all weren't exactly nice to one another either but they all shared a certain harmony and respect for one another, willing to learn from each other but also willing to stand their ground when needed. The "smoke the peace pipe" image comes to mind here.

There's so much that has been lost because European settlers went out of their way to eradicate history in the Americas and most of our true natives didn't really write stuff down. It was all passed on by word of mouth through generations of young people listening to their elders.

Archeology has a solid meaning and I'm huge fan but it is only at the limits of modern terminology. We weren't there 3000 years ago so we can only suppose what people were thinking or doing at the time and put it into modern context.

200 years ago? Yeah we were all drunks LOL
