LOL I'm indifferent on that one. Generally being as much of a consumer of beverages as I am there was a point where I told myself that I wasn't going to put my lips to any glass or cup that wasn't my own. I'm not sure where that idea came from but it stuck with me. I made exceptions for a salted rim of a margarita glass which I still miss but I digress.
I don't see much difference between paper and plastic straws and have never had an issue with either. If it's better for the environment, which I think it is, then I have no problem with a paper straw. If it's trashed, just politely ask for another. I don't drink hot beverages while dining so that's up to others to mull over.
When we were kids, opening the milk carton at school by yourself became a right of passage and we just sucked them down strawless.
These clowns just love to make mountains out of mole hills. Everything is an outrage to them.
