Agree 💯. I have a few long term holds. A relative of mine, back in maybe '93' or '94' picked a little company to put an inheritance in & added occasionally. It's still her only equity, she's a happy camper, it's MKL.

2morrowsgains- Warren Buffet is a rare bird

Beating the S&P by buying a stock and holding long term(5 years or more) is almost impossible in my opinion, for even the most savvy & knowledgeable investors. Warren may be right for maybe one in a million investors that have the uncanny ability. I mean finding those companies now, that will continue to do well for years to come is almost impossible in my view. How often are analysts correct about what they think a company will even make a year from now- rarely ! For me, my style of trading short term by buying under valued stocks today, and selling them when they get to fair value, has worked like a charm overall, and more importantly given me financial independence. Even after the absolute beating I've taken this year, I still for 21 years since on this board, have beaten the S&P by 4-5 fold(when comparing the same 21 year period). So for me, I chose to keep doing what worked for so many years, even though it has worked horribly in 2025 so far.
