#525501 RE: 12yearplan #525499

We've been receiving an ongoing crash course on the meaning of fascism from professor emeritus, irritatus, Trump.

often used as a shorthand for authoritarianism, nationalism, or perceived threats to liberal values

While not always used accurately, "fascism" is a common term in everyday conversations, often used to express concerns about perceived authoritarian trends or to criticize political stances that are seen as overly nationalistic or intolerant.

More, much more, than threats to liberal values which connote, to untutored Trumpanzees, woke, baby killing, elites from whom tears must be elicited, it's about threats to liberal democracy.

If Trump could be pulled over for GUIF....Governing Under the Influence of Fascism.....these are the violations he could be cited for: liberal democracy is a system that balances majority rule with the protection of individual and minority rights, ensuring both political participation and personal freedoms within a framework of law and institutional checks.

And if there was a breathalyzer to measure fascism Trump would bury the f'cking needle and be put in the back of the squad car.

What is the meaning of liberal democracy?

Liberal democracy is a form of government that combines the principles of democracy-rule by the people through elected representatives-with the core tenets of liberalism, which emphasize the protection of individual rights and freedoms, the rule of law, and limits on governmental power.

Key Features
Representative Democracy: Citizens elect representatives to make decisions and govern on their behalf.

Protection of Individual Rights: Fundamental civil rights and liberties, such as freedom of speech, religion, assembly, and property, are constitutionally protected and guaranteed for all citizens.

Rule of Law: Both the government and citizens are subject to publicly disclosed laws that are applied equally and fairly; no one is above the law.

Separation of Powers: Government authority is divided among separate branches (executive, legislative, judicial) to prevent abuse of power, with checks and balances between them.

Pluralism and Toleration: Multiple political parties and interest groups are allowed to exist and compete for power, and differing viewpoints are tolerated within society.

Universal Suffrage: All adult citizens have the right to vote, regardless of background or status.

Constitutional Limits: A written or unwritten constitution defines and restricts the powers of government, ensuring that authority is exercised only with the consent of the governed.

Origins and Examples
Liberal democracy developed out of Enlightenment ideas in the 17th and 18th centuries, particularly those of philosophers like John Locke, and took institutional form in events such as the American and French revolutions.

Today, countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, and Australia are considered liberal democracies.

Simple Definition
A liberal democracy is a government in which elected representatives hold power, but that power is limited by laws and constitutions designed to protect individual rights and freedoms for all citizens.

Comparison to Other Systems
Not all democracies are liberal democracies. Some systems may allow elections but lack protections for civil liberties or the rule of law, distinguishing them from the liberal democratic model.

In summary, liberal democracy is a system that balances majority rule with the protection of individual and minority rights, ensuring both political participation and personal freedoms within a framework of law and institutional checks.

Good. And I'll just add that I find the increasing presence of masked ICE agents all over the country extremely disturbing. I don't believe that even enthusiastic Trump fans voted for our very own Gestapo.
