As the weather warms up, the protests are only going to grow larger. Next one is May 1. I agree with sortagreen, this mess didn't just happen overnight. It's been at least a decade since the GOP decided that they need to cut us off from the world and since Reagan that they decided they needed an authoritarian regime. The first time the words "welfare queen" were uttered, it spelled doom for every domestically marginalized person.

Now, if our allies see an epic uprising they might take us a little more seriously but most of the damage that's been caused is now irreparable. Biden gave it a shot and was doing good, despite the GOP congress but it's now all up for grabs.

"If we shoot shitface today, clean out ALL the trash, throw out the billionaires or disconnect them from our government"

Well, that's just adorable.

Here's what Mark Carney said:

The global economy is fundamentally different today than it was yesterday. The system of global trade anchored on the United States, that Canada has relied on since the end of the Second World War—a system that, while not perfect, has helped to deliver prosperity for our country for decades—is over.

Our old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the United States is over.

The eighty-year period when the United States embraced the mantle of global economic leadership—when it forged alliances rooted in trust and mutual respect, and championed the free and open exchange of good and services—is over.

While this is a tragedy, it is also the new reality.

And 77.3 million votes is not 1/7th of the population. It wasn't quite half of the vote, but if I counted myself a US ally, I wouldn't be all that comfortable with that number.
