My unit went to Hohenfels to train one summer, and after a couple of weeks the 3/12 Cavalry, the unit we shared a post with, came home with 3 bodies. One of them was an M88 crewman (the same type of vehicle that we just lost in Lithuania).
It's a dangerous job, even when no one's shooting.
