So why would top admin honchos add a lib reporter to a chat about a military strike in progress ??

I notice that no one asks that question -- the head honchoes just say it was a mistake -- so then the question should be 'how could such a mistake be made-- just happy talk and no consequences to anyone -- so a deliberate act so the details of the strike are publicized -- wow
