Their lie of editing needs is criminal. There is no need to shut anything down to work with the systems unless it's an entire move to a new data system or structure, otherwise software can be edited off line and reprogrammed later.
One thought is needing a complete shutdown to copy everything elsewhere and changing all the passwords and security to their own secret system.
