I think the problem on tariffs was that Colombia folded essily on whether the illegal immigrants returned on uber or lyft.
That likely emboldened Trump on Canada and Mexico.
There are no doubt some ways we should press Mexico on the border, but what we are creating here is a situation where our closest trading partners are incentivized to damage the US economy which they are certainly able to do.
