You ASSUME that DEI means no merit based hiring rather than broadening the search for merit among a more diverse base of candidates. There is simply no evidence that merit is not the key element in hiring.

And Trump's 'common sense' is as far removed from evidence as WV is from climbing out a bottom five rating among all states in whatever metric you want to choose.
