The way the Canadian Courts move.....a person can be out on bail for up to 15 months..and request several remands for various reasons...So I think they will be free for quite awhile..but may have several " conditions " to olige by for the courts while out on own recognizance...In cases like this..they sometimes ask for a cash deposit to hold to ensure the accused won't leave the country while on bail.The whole ordeal will take up to 2 years, imo, plus..there may be jurisdiction isssues..they may be charged in numerous places..imo only...
