As a future commissioned officer, you fill out what is called a "Dream Sheet" stating the MOS types (jobs) you want, the commands you want to serve in, the parts of the world where you want to serve. You hand that in and wait. Then the military responds with your orders. I got none of my "Dreams" fulfilled. The Strategic Air Command wanted me in intercontinental ballistic missiles. So that is where I went.
