Is “male menopause” real?
[...]
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) identifies the most common symptoms of male menopause as decreased libido, a lower frequency of morning erections, and erectile dysfunction.

The study lists other symptoms that include a loss of energy, an inability to walk more than 1 kilometer, or 0.62 miles, and difficulties completing strenuous physical tasks, such as running or lifting heavy objects.

Kneeling, bending, and stooping might also become more difficult.

Depression and fatigue might also set in as a result of the change in male hormone levels.

Well i've had erectile dysfunction since those crucial 'hold the blood in' nerves were cut in getting the prostate cancer out some 30 years ago and the damn COPD would account for the other symptoms all of which i have. Except i can still walk over 1 kilometer, slowly. But still there is more there i hadn't considered to take to doctors for them to consider. Depression has come and gone since childhood, though there has been a heightened sense of that recently too.

Hot Flashes in Men – Causes & Symptoms

[...]
The short answer to this question is yes; men can and do have hot flashes. However, hot flashes in men have a different cause. The frequency of male hot flashes ranges from six to ten times a day. The hot flash can pass within a few minutes or an hour. Hot flashes can cause irritability, increased heart rate, nausea, and anxiety.

What Causes Hot Flashes in Men?

Although hot flashes in women are pretty standard, hot flashes in men are not unusual. What causes hot flashes in men is simple. Male hot flashes occur when a male has a severe testosterone deficiency. The most common causes of low testosterone are male menopause (andropause) and the treatment used for prostate cancer (androgen deprivation therapy).

Another reason for male hot flashes is late-onset hypogonadism. This condition occurs when the testes do not produce enough hormones. Typically, hypogonadism occurs in men who are obese or those who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes has never been suggested, but that androgen deprivation therapy comment raises questions. Just perhaps after all these years since the prostate cuts...

Very interesting. Thanks.
