Colombia is transitioning towards green energy during a period of gas crisis. The country faces an imminent lack of gas and ongoing drought is reducing its ability to generate electricity. While the state-run energy company, Ecopetrol, plans to extract gas from the Colombian Caribbean in 2029, until then the country will have to increase its gas imports. This will cause prices to rise by up to 30 percent, according to some experts
