OMOLIVES, Though i do have some agreement with your lag point, and also have posted articles saying president have less influence on the economy than most think, still there is too much evidence over too many decades for you not to accept, the economy does better under Democrats.

What is it going to take for you to comprehend the refutations of what you claim? Recognition Lag can't account for the 'startlingly big difference'. And the rest of the arguments in my posts blow your arguments out of the water.

Do you really think that the authors are unaware of recognition lag? Reads to me that they eliminated it as explanatory for the 'startlingly big differences' in economic performance between the two parties and Investopedia doesn't address that issue either.

The results are similar regardless whether one assigns responsibility for the first quarter of a president’s term to him or to his predecessor. Relatedly, the average Democratic presidential term has been in recession for 1 of its 16 quarters, whereas the average for the Republican terms has been 5 quarters, a startlingly big difference.
