Please don't repeat the lie that KBLB 'already created a heart valve.' They poured some spider silk goo over a mold. It wasn't even called a prototype in the video, if memory serves. You could do the same with some jello or rubber cement.
It takes a decade or more to develop a new heart valve. There is no reason to believe that spider silk is superior to other substances in that application. Heart valves have an incredible number of different design requirements. Natural heart valves are not made of a silk-like substance, they are exquisite structures.
