You didn't have health insurance before Obama care, health insurance companies sold you a piece of paper that denied health insurance when you needed it. It was called pre existing conditions. Paying for health care means Paying people to work in health care.
I have no idea how the health insurance thing works. I would say, however, that the problem was Obama couldn't negotiate a better deal, because the insurance industry has a stranglehold on Congress. Obie wanted a public option, but couldn't get it.
Weigh all that, IF it's accurate, against all of the people with preexisting conditions who were shit out of luck for insurance coverage for their maladies, pre the ACA
And consider this. Have you ever seen the GOP plan, concept of a plan, to replace the ACA? Despite what you say was your experience the ACA is too popular to shit can for a replacement that simply doesn't exist.
