I hate to inform you but they certainly did have abortions back then. It was just illegal and also many women tried it themselves and died.
Yes. It isn't as if no one had ever heard of it. The wealthy ones found real doctors who'd pop them in the hospital, where they'd have a D&C for cysts or something. The poor ones went to back alley butchers.
