exactly what public office did he run for?

he's a politician

we're all politicians, from the person who scrubs your motel room toilets to the CEO's of the largest companies in the world. That's a completely generic term that could describe anyone that has a voice.

That's an ass backwards argument. I have a BA in Poli Sci and I've never run for political office. But I DID read about fascism and you can bet your ass Milley did too. He's a professional military man, foremost, NOT a politician.

And hell yes he knows more about the subject than you do, having had first hand experience with that fat fascist f'k.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Milley

Threats to life by Trump .....THAT'S what fascists do.

In September 2023, former-President Donald Trump suggested Milley should be executed.[157] In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated Milley's authorized call to reassure Chinese authorities of the nation's stability following the January 6 United States Capitol attack was "an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH."[158] In response to the threat, Milley stated, "I'll take appropriate measures to ensure my safety and the safety of my family."[159][160]

In 2024, Milley said he fears being court-martialed if Trump will be reelected. He also called Trump the "most dangerous person ever" and admitted he has realized that Trump was a "fascist to the core".[161]

I agree with Blackhawks. You want to describe everyone who ever gets his name in the paper as a "politician", and you don't mean that in a good way. You appear to believe you're superior to all of them.

Milley was a kid from a modest background who was very smart and very ambitious. But it is by no means unusual for people in the military to seek advanced degrees and new specialties. Many flag officers have wide-ranging interests and are avid readers.

The only one I can think of who's become a politician is the odious, insane, and very obviously fascist Michael Flynn.

OMOLIVES, Milley was never a politician. He is a retired general who has the guts and the integrity to say what he thinks.

"? He's a politician that served in the military. He has an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in International Relations. He did well in his career...exceptional. He is a politician foremost.....and given how well you know him.... apparently knows more about the subject than I do. Anything else?
:) ......................he's a politician
"

He has been around Trump much more than you have and he has heard Trump say much more than you have. "Fascist to the core."

dbergh, More to the point, Trump’s closing argument: full-throated fascism

[...]Trump’s closing argument of the 2024 election is full-throated fascism.

Retired General Mark A. Milley, whom Trump picked to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that former president Donald Trump is a “fascist to the core” and “the most dangerous person to this country” in new comments voicing his mounting alarm at the prospect of the Republican nominee’s election to another term (according to a forthcoming book by Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward).

Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney sees “no reason to disagree with [Milley’s] assessment,” adding that “The people that stopped [Trump] from his worst desires last time around won’t serve again.”

On Monday, Hillary Clinton posted that Trump’s rhetoric now is “blatantly fascist.”

Trump has always had fascist tendencies. But fascist thuggery has now become the core of his presidential campaign.

Fascism — different from and more dangerous than authoritarianism — has five elements,* all of which are now central features of what Trump is offering voters:

1. The rejection of democracy, the rule of law, and equal rights under the law, in favor of a strongman.

“I am your voice.” (Trump, 2016)

“The election was stolen.” (Trump, 2020)

“I am your warrior. I am your justice … I am your retribution.” (Trump, 2023)

Fascist “strongmen” are assumed to be above the law — above any legal or
constitutional constraints — because they supposedly give voice to the people.

2. The galvanizing of popular rage against political opponents.

rooster, Paxton knows and Gawthorpe gets it right - Is this fascism? No. Could it become fascism? Yes

"Is Donald Trump a Fascist? Part 2 of Interview with Robert Paxton, Father of Fascism Studies
[...]
Professor Paxton, thanks for staying with us for Part 2 of this conversation. Have you been surprised by the rise and the popularity of Donald Trump?
ROBERT PAXTON: Totally surprised. Not so very long ago, Trump was a guaranteed laugh line. He was considered a buffoon. All you had to do was to show the hair and call him “The Donald,” and everyone kind of snickered. And suddenly he’s this—he’s this immense power. He’s touched the nerve with his style, which has fascist overtones, encouraging violence, attacking the internal enemy and so forth, saying that the system is rotten and it needs an outsider to fix it, which is a fascist kind of appeal—make Germany great, make America great. Suddenly he’s touched a nerve, and for millions of people he is suddenly seen taken more than seriously. And that’s a strange flip. That’s a strange transformation."
[...]
An American fascism would not only marry Christianity and ultranationalism through a shared belief in conspiracies aiming to destroy America, but it would also seek to retain the support of capital. Trump has demonstrated how to combine regressive economic policies with a populist image by attacking minorities and elites. Anyone promoting progressive economic reform is dismissed as a communist and hence as un-American – another one of the conspirators, and another reason to line up behind a strongman who will keep them out of power. This is why “the Squad”, who in the worldview of the right are both communists and America-hating brown people, are the perfect foil.

You have no good reason to say there are no fascists in Congress. Gosar
could be one. And Vance. And you know very little about most of them.
