cm3i - since this is not a criminal trial, there are no pleas of guilty or innocent tendered. It is an administrative regulatory hearing of a civil nature, most likely presided over by a magistrate or judge of some type who will review evidentiary materials presented by both sides and make a determination of whether the trading halt should be extended and whether further action is to be taken, i.e. referral to the Ontario Department of Justice for criminal charges, or whether to drop or add allegations, or come to a settlement or resolution at the hearing. The presiding official may also continue the proceeding to a later date to give the OSC more time to conclude their investigation if warranted, since Tom Anderson of the OSC estimated in his affidavit that he would need six more months to conclude his inquiries.
