<< These parental lines will be crossbred to produce millions of BAM-1 hybrid silkworm eggs for future production cycles. >>

We've seen this exact same BS before many years ago. It's the same old, same old.

The Scumbag CEO is so lazy, he is just regurgitating PRs.

"November 7, 2018 - Over the next 30 days, Kraig Labs anticipates scaling up production volumes of this new silkworm strain into the millions, as it prepares to create the first silk threads and fabrics made of this next generation recombinant spider silk.

It takes approximately 10,000 silkworms to produce a million eggs. If KBLB has 50,000 parental silkworms, that should produce enough eggs for a metric ton.

20% of this crop is hybrids being raised for silk. That would be about 12,500 silkworms. If they have 100% maturity to cocoons, KBLB would reel about 2.25 kilos of silk.

KBLB has indicated the eggs produced by this cross-breeding will become used in ‘future production cycles.’ That suggests KBLB will not be producing a metric ton in one production cycle this year. If KBLB had indicated ‘tens of millions of eggs’, we would be closer to that metric ton level of production.

This analysis depends on the precision of KBLB’s claim. They might be expecting tens of millions but instead said millions. We won’t know for certain which number is correct until we get more information from KBLB in the future…

The KBLB way.
