Another explanation could be terminating the program adds credence to the camp that feels RSV antivirals are a waste of resources. The best explanation however is not to try and explain the short term swings of the stock - it's had large moves in both directions on little to no news before, and I don't consider today a news event since the PFE program was pretty much dead anyway (see my prior post)
The more significant news for ENTA today might actually be the GSK vaccine news. It doesn't look like there is a clear path yet to any revaccination for adults in RSV and efficacy continues to dwindle over time, as today's year 3 data show, so the adult RSV market may not be as well served by vaccination as originally thought
