Yes, it’s called progress. … And it’s what civilizations have been doing for centuries.

We no longer live in caves nor do I know anyone who actually wants to.

We are no longer a primarily agrarian society,

Will AI allow us to get rid of commuting?
I don’t know, but it’s possible.

Does progress get rid of some jobs? Yes, it does. … And usually we are much better off for it.

Will some Neanderthals get left behind? Probably.

The labor market needs to change. The same thing happened to automotive when they started bringing in robotics. The automotive companies along with unions offered training for other types of jobs but the members chose not to pursue. The same thing will happen with coal and oil. Technology changes things and the changes are happening far quicker than they used to. There's still a shortage of skilled trades. Plumbers and electricians can now make $350-$650/hr since they now charge by the job and not by the hour.
