Yep. And there are so many reasons for a lack of sharpness. It could be simply an unfortunate physical/chemical thing, nobody's doing. In more cases it's a lack of interest and effort on an individual's part. Many felt it was too complicated tor 13y-olds, but we found, in fact, many Year 8 kids were interested in the idea of thinking about their own thinking.

Many kids are more interested in DeBono's Lateral Thinking exercises than adults. Umm, am not thinking of these .. https://www.zsolt.blog/2020/12/Exercises%20to%20develop%20creative%20thinking.html , but more of the Yes-No exercises like you are given a situation e.g. A person walks into an elevator, presses the 4th floor button, gets out, walks up to the 5th floor and goes into their office. They do that every working day. You have to ask questions which are answered only with yes or no, except the one giving the riddle sometimes could reluctantly say 'irrelevant'. Being careful not to give anything away. Gotta stick to yes or no as firmly as you can. Some find asking the questions easy. Others have difficulty thinking of questions.
Many children take to it with more enthusiasm than most adults. It helps to build confidence in some cases too.
